The original Sahara opened in 1952; it was rebranded to SLS Las Vegas in 2014—which then closed in 2019—when the new Sahara opened. The overall vibe of the casino is a much more tame and generic “modern casino” theme: neutral colour palette; “sophisticated” and “understated” design elements—a pretty much boring and underwhelming attempt to recapture the nostalgia of its former self.

The carpeting is relatively subtle (especially compared to SLS), and its organic, flowing wave patterns have been done before—very successfully at Aria—and were perhaps inspired by that.
