Finally, 17 years after construction began, Fontainebleu opened in December 2023. It is massive—maybe too big. There are a lot of spaces that feel like they didn't know what to do, so they just dropped in some seating. There's a terrifyingly-long/tall escalator; and the sharp leather-tobacco-like casino scent is extremely potent.

Many of the design elements throughout the building are blue, including almost all of the carpet designs. The subdued gaming floor design also makes use of the bowtie icon in the form of a fireworks-style layout. The walkway (and promenade) design is of particular note, since it’s high-contrast dark blue-and-white lines create a vibrating optical illusion—that may not be pleasant for all guests.
