THE STRIP
Treasure Island (now, T.I.), is one of the biggest de-theming tragedies on The Strip. Developed by Steve Wynn at a time when Vegas was more family-friendly, the once extravagant pirate theme has been drastically toned-down for a more mature audience. The free pirate shows are gone, as is much of the Disney-like décor throughout the casino—including the iconic skull and crossbones sign (donated to the Neon Museum).
The carpeting, however, is still is tapestry of swash-buckling adventure—nautical charts and maps dominate much of the casino; while gems and booty cover the floors of the high limit slots. The little bits of the nautilus patterned carpet near the Starbucks and ballrooms is left over from an earlier install.
