Gaming Floor February 2016
DOWNTOWN
Originally opened in 1980 as Sundance, then Fitzgeralds (1987–2012), The D is notable for both it’s large outdoor bar on Fremont Street, and the “Vintage Vegas” casino on the second floor (notable for including the only remaining Sigma Derby in the city). The upstairs restaurant is a great place to make fun of fellow tourists, too.
Carpet-wise, the main floor relied heavily on starburst/firework geometry and the colour red, while upstairs—the coin-themed carpet celebrates all those coin-operated slots. The second floor casino carpeting was updated with a more art deco-inspired design; losing the coins (as they have removed almost all coin-operated slots, too).
