El Cortez is one of the oldest casinos in Las Vegas. It definietly still has the old-school vibe you’d expect from a Downtown casino—including coin slots and $3 margaritas at The Parlour (who’s carpeting style feels out-of-place in the overall casino theming).

The previous generation iconic floral carpet is formal and old-fashioned, and helps reinforce the Spanish Colonial architecture of the building. I’ve heard the gift shop is selling squares of the classic design—I’ll need to get my hands on that. The new carpeting, is more Havana/jungle-inspired featuring birds-of-paradise and copious amounts of cheetah print.
