The Southeast Asian-themed Manadaly Bay is a sprawling resort (also including the Four Seasons and W Las Vegas [formerly Delano; and before that: THEhotel]). The casino’s carpeting incorporates geometric and organic floral elements arranged in a variety of mandalas, and the scent of coconut is strong throughout. Mandalay Bay also has the best pool complex in Las Vegas—including sand beaches, a wave pool, and a lazy river (which is heated).
The new convetion center carpeting is a goregous mix of abstract colour and white floral illustration. The hotel hallways are an energetic—and sometime dizzying—which lead into subdued ripple-effects carpets for hotel rooms that vary in pattern and colour depending on room type.
W Las Vegas replaced the serene shifting sands design of Delano’s promenade with a rather mundane—and too subtle—beige design. While most of the Four Seasons public areas—especially the lobby—are in desperate need of attention: much of it appears to be water damaged.
Mandalay Bay is connected to the Luxor via The Shoppes at Mandalay Place, as well as a free tram—which also stops at Excalibur.
