The Best Music of 2012

This is more like my favourite music of 2012. Quite a few of the songs were not even released in 2012; they just got more airtime this year. I find what I'm doing or where I'm at also plays a huge part in it. Some songs just lend themselves to a certain situation and because of that, the memories that get attached to them make special. Yes, that fucking Goyte song is in it, and so is Madonna, but I like them. So, in no particular order:

    Dark Parts - Perfume Genius
Your Love Is Here to Stay - Hunx
    We Found Love - Rihanna
    Wishes - Beach House
Jet Boy Jet Girl - The Damned
Couperin: 6e Ordre No.5 - Les Baricades Mistérieuses - Angela Hewitt
    Walk at Night - Cults
    Let's Have A Kiki - Scissor Sisters
Somebody That I Used to Know - Goyte
    Outro - M83
    Today's Supernatural - Animal Collective
    Yet Again - Grizzly Bear
    Silver Springs - Stevie Nicks
    Girl Gone Wild - Madonna
Preisner: Life: Lacrimosa - Day of Tears - Roman Rewakowicz
    Krokodil - St. Vincent
Unzip Me - Cazwell + Peaches
    Posters - Youth Lagoon
Nightmusic (feat. Majical Clouds) - Grimes
    Always - Summer Camp
    Affection - Crystal Castles
Ivory Coast - Pure Bathing Culture
Who Were We - Kylie Minogue
The White Lady Loves You More - Elliott Smith
Spider and I - Brian Eno
Ready for the Times to Get Better - Crystal Gayle

Perfume Genius' Dark Parts is far and away, the best/my favourite song of the year. The video fits the song perfectly, in some part for me, because it reminds me of my parents too. I moved from Chicago (where I had lived my whole life) to Portland last fall, so I guess that connection to those memories is what gives me chills every time I hear it. Just a beautiful song.

I think the overall best album (released in 2012) is Hunx's Hairdresser Blues. I just sort of came to this conclusion because I like the highest percentage of songs on the album. Crystal Castles (III) is a close second, and I'm kind of surprised at myself there's no Tori Amos on here. I'm still listening to Night of Hunters a lot, though (Fearlessness is one of her best).
